Day of Surgery

  • Fasting instructions will be provided by the nurse during your interview.
  • Only take the medications instructed by the nurse during your interview.
  • No oral hypoglycemic medication or insulin on the day of surgery.
  • Do not consume alcohol 24 hours prior to your surgery.
  • Do not smoke 12 hours prior to your surgery.
  • No gum, breath mints or chewing tobacco after midnight.
  • You may take a shower or bath the morning of surgery, but do not put on any lotions, powder or perfumes.
  • Brush your teeth, rinse and spit without swallowing the water.
  • Do not apply makeup, powder, creams or lotions.


What to Bring

  • Bring your insurance card and payment.
  • Bring a case for contacts, glasses and dentures.
  • Bring crutches if necessary for proper fitting and receive instructions for use.
  • Bring any medical equipment already issued as instructed by the nurse.
  • Leave all jewelry and valuables at home.
  • Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothes.
